How does therapeutic bodywork differ from health coaching?

Our bodywork therapies differ from health coaching in both approach and focus, offering hands-on, somatic support rather than goal-oriented guidance and behavioural strategies.

Health coaching typically centres on helping you set and achieve wellness goals through conversation, education, and accountability. Coaches may support you in areas like nutrition, exercise, stress management, or lifestyle changes. Sessions are often structured around identifying obstacles, creating action plans, and tracking progress over time. The relationship is collaborative and motivational, with the coach acting as a guide to help you make informed choices and sustain healthy habits.

In contrast, our bodywork therapies are grounded in physical, emotional, and energetic touch-based practices. Rather than focusing on external goals or behaviour change, these sessions invite you to tune inward – reconnecting with your body, releasing stored tension, and regulating your nervous system. We use techniques such as myofascial release, manual lymphatic drainage, and visceral abdominal massage to help you address pain, trauma, fatigue, and emotional overwhelm.

While health coaching is primarily cognitive and conversational, our bodywork is experiential and embodied. You may not need to “do” anything during a session other than receive and notice. This can be especially powerful if you feel disconnected from your body or overwhelmed by stress, as it offers a safe space for healing that doesn’t rely on willpower or performance.

Another key difference is the therapeutic container. Our sessions are often quiet, intuitive, and deeply personal, allowing for emotional release and integration that may not arise in a coaching context.

Ultimately, both approaches can be complementary. Health coaching supports external change and accountability, while our bodywork fosters internal awareness and healing. Our therapies are ideal if you are seeking a grounded, body-centred path to wellness that honours the wisdom of your body.
