Myofascial release therapy has been the core of our bodywork treatments since 2017. Now with 2025 looming we are excited about the introduction of two brand new therapies in January and February. We are exploring the formation of an allied health care model with other practitioners, health care providers, trainers, and instructors. We are even considering broadening Advaya’s support team to keep our clinic-building momentum going…

As Advaya now moves closer to its eighth birthday (!) already it’s time to both celebrate our achievements and, perhaps more importantly, to set next steps toward our practice’s ongoing development. We believe there’s no better way to start 2025 than by introducing no less than two new bodywork treatment options, each of which promises to broaden our therapeutic portfolio considerably around the Myofascial Release Therapies for which we have become reputable over the last five years.

As you will read below, this is not where our development work will stop in 2025. In fact, considering the plans we have for the new year, it’s very likely that the next twelve months may become our most ambitious yet.

In this journal I am going to lift the lid on what’s currently in play for us (you?) and what you can expect to see coming into your direction over the next two months…

Two New Bodywork Services

To kick the new year off with a bang we will in February add new bodywork treatment options to our booking system –

Hot Stone Massage (HSM)

One of the most exciting news we can share at this point is the coming of Hot Stone Massage (HSM). As the name suggests, this bodywork treatment modality uses stones to treat your tissues with precisely controlled heat to optimise their metabolism.

Although this type of massage may be one of the first forms of healing used by humans to treat injury and dis-ease, protocols and instructions have been continuously rewritten throughout history. This resulted in countless variations in treatment approaches and techniques that are now used around the world for either relaxation, medicinal, or spiritual purposes.

Die-hard HSM practitioners believe that there are only a handful of ‘true’ instruction guides on this modality in existence today, all of which are either almost prohibitively expensive or simply no longer published. It took me a couple of days of online searching before I was able to locate someone in Canada who was willing to part with an original copy of what may be the definitive text on medicinal HSM.

Now, with that copy in our hands, we will be developing our own Hot Stone Massage treatment protocols over the next few weeks. I also sourced a wonderful set of 64 custom polished stones, which arrived at our practice earlier this month. The idea is to start testing our treatment designs late January and, assuming all goes well, to then launch Hot Stone Massage as a bookable treatment as early as February.

We understand! We’re excited too!

Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage (MLD)

Excitedly, we are now also preparing for the launch of what may have been the most requested bodywork service in 2024 – Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) massage. This is an amazing bodywork modality that, in short, accelerates your body’s elimination of metabolic waste and optimises the functioning of your immune system.

One reason for MLD to be popular is that it can be breathtakingly powerful, with effects that usually are immediately noticeable. Like Myofascial Release Therapy (MRT) it is performed slowly, consciously, and precisely, which adds to this treatment’s calming effects. Techniques are performed in predetermined sequences that follow the pathways of your lymphatic system across your entire body. Also, unlike MFR, MLD can either be offered as part- and whole-body treatments, with the latter almost never done for MFR.

I believe that our timing is perfect for the launch of our Lymphatic Drainage Massage. Many of us are now shedding the metabolic effects of the colds and flu’s that challenged us during winter. COVID made a resurgence around here, and many of us are now feeling the effects of our pressured economy both professionally and personally. As we all know, stressful times usually promote excess consumption of alcohol, less-conscious eating behaviours, and challenged sleep patterns. All this can elevate our body’s toxicity, which becomes harder to correct when we remain stuck to the same suboptimal behaviours that cause it.

When we begin to feel sluggish, fatigued, irritable, and generally all-over-the-place it’s likely time to book MLD with us. If we can stay on track with our 2025, you will be able to do so also from February onward.

Broadening our 2025 bodywork portfolio

The introduction of these two new bodywork services will herald a year of expansion for Advaya. Beyond February, after the launch of Hot Stone and Manual Lymphatic Drainage massage, the plan will be to add even more options to our booking system. Currently, and without disclosing what these may be, we are committed to several clinical, medical, and therapeutic refresh courses, which we will gradually complete over the coming months.

Obviously, by expanding our therapeutic options we want to move Advaya beyond Myofascial Release Therapy, which, over the last five years, has pretty much become the core of all we do daily. While the development of Advaya around this treatment option has contributed much to our practice’s growth and reputation the idea is now to broaden our therapeutic menu to eventually offer a series of interrelated bodywork treatment types. As we continue to introduce these throughout 2025 you will be given more opportunities to design your own bespoke Advaya Healing Bodywork treatment plan.

All this work falls very much in line with the bold, brazen, and rather audacious intention I set when I established Advaya in 2017 – to be and constantly become your bodywork practice of choice. That Advaya almost doubled its customer numbers during this year is an indicator for being on track with that vision.

Yet, more can be done to optimise our services to – ultimately – help you best on your journey to live as the best version you can be. Because, essentially, the better we help you achieve this, the more we fulfil our own dreams.

Let’s roll into 2025 with hope, realistic ambition, and a benevolent and kind heart. Let’s not stop dreaming, visioning, and ideating ever-better futures – and then let’s crack on with making them happen.

We’re here to support you stronger, better equipped, and more committed than ever.

Wishing you an amazing 2025 already!

Been waiting for this for months! Noticing HSM is not on the booking system yet, how can I book ahead?

Ally Crawford

There is no information on Lymphatic Drainage on the website? Is this still coming? I am very interested in booking a session with you. I have heard very good things about your practice and would like to know more about this.

Denise Collins

Hi Mondi, I have not worked with you before but I am interested in both therapies. Do I still need to book an intake consultation for these or is that only for myofascial release treatments? If I do need to come see you for an intake, can I book that before February?

Caroline Dunstan

I had lymphatic drainage in the US two years ago and found it to be amazing. I have been looking for a good practitioner here in NZ! Can I contact you to talk about how you work?
