As our economy continues to change, we, like so many other businesses, must also review how we charge for our bodywork services. Although costs are rising, the good news is that we’ve always operated Advaya prudently and sensibly to protect the fees and quality of our services.

While fees are unlikely to change in the foreseeable future, we believe that some financial gains can be made through the introduction of two new ‘ways of doing things’…

Since we started Advaya in 2017 we kept our treatment fees deliberately low to keep our bodywork treatments and therapeutic services accessible to the broadest range of clients. Especially now, in a time where economic pressures continue to mount for all of us, our intention to keep our services affordable has never been more important.

However, we also need to protect our own financial interests to keep Advaya economically viable. To keep our treatment fees as they currently are, at least for the foreseeable time, we must ensure we can operate efficiently and effectively during our operating hours.

We believe we can achieve all this simply by making a few small changes to the way we do things. You can help us with that.

On Monday 3 March 2025 we will introduce two changes to the way we operate –

Phasing out of Invoicing

From Sunday 2 March 2025 onwards we will ask you to pay either in cash or to use our EFTPOS facilities at the end of your treatment. When you do you will be charged a normal standard treatment fees, as shown in our booking system.

However, should you be unable to pay for your treatment at the time of your visit, a surcharge of $15 per invoice will be added to your treatment fee. This surcharge will be specified on your invoice.

Direct payments after treatments helps us minimise our administrative work and ensures cash flow. Because EFTPOS transactions are coded, they are easier to match to your completed treatments. We continue to welcome cash payments as well, as these require minimal administration at the end of each treatment day.

By making this change we aim to make more time available for treatments – or simply to use that extra time to put our feet up a little longer at the end of each work week.

Updated Cancellation Policy

The second change we’ve made is to our Cancellation Policy. As our practice continues to grow rapidly, and has already become busier than ever before, our updated policy helps us to better manage our booking schedules and to avoid uneconomic downtimes caused by late arrivals and absence of clients.

This means that we will become stricter about charging for unattendance, when someone simply does not arrive at our practice within 10 minutes of their appointment time, and without notifying us promptly of their lateness. In such cases we will automatically charge 50% of the booking fee by invoice.

Without exception, non-payment of this invoice will now result in a three-month ban from our booking system.

Until now we have been lenient with those who arrived late or not at all for their appointments.

Although we consider ourselves fortunate with clients who almost always honour their bookings we have noticed a slight increase in absenteeism, which resulted in non-productive and thus non-chargeable time for us. Clearly, this does not help us keep our treatment fees as they are now, which doesn’t benefit any of us.

Existing Bookings

All bookings made for Monday 3 March 2025 and beyond will be affected. However, we would like you to start using our new payment arrangements as soon as possible to help us introduce our new payment method fluidly.

If you are likely unable to pay immediately for your bookings on or beyond that date, please let us know in advance, and preferably as soon as possible. We may be able to make alternative arrangements. Otherwise, we will invoice you with surcharge, without exception, as explained above.

Questions?

If you have any questions or concerns about our new way of working, please post them as a comment below (which may be useful to our other clients as well) or use the form on our Contact Us page to email us directly.

Mondi, I’ve always appreciated the very reasonable fees you charged for the excellent work you’ve done for me over the months. I totally support these changes and totally understand why you implement them.
Also, just so you know, if you were ever to increase your fees by $10 or $20 I would be more than happy to pay those too.I love your work and will continue to book my treatments with you. I don’t think I will be able to find another bodyworker who is so committed to his clients as you are…

Same as Donna! I love that you actually sent us an email to notify us in advance. I think that’s super professional. No problem with those changes either. I think they are well due and I would also be happy to pay extra for your services. You’ve done amazing work with me over the last ten months and I am very, very grateful for the help and support you have given me.
Way to go Mondi! Go Advaya I say…

Just to put in context Mondi, I used to pay something like $80 in the U.S. for the services you provide, which is I think something like $120 per hour here in New Zealand. I love that you want to keep your services accessible and affordable to everyone, and that may explain why you’re so busy, and maybe much busier that many other therapists.
You have my complete support for those changes. Well done.
